5 Projects that will change Dubai in the next 5 years
1. Dubai Expo 2020
Dubai, already ranked by many as the No. 1 City to live and work, is on its way to becoming a socio-economic powerhouse of the MENA region. Alongside this, Dubai’s Iconic landmarks have attracted over 10 million tourists in 2012 and its expected to be double by the year 2020 . This combined with the UAE’s governments long term vision and strategy are many of reasons why Dubai was awarded Expo 2020. With a GDP of 5.2 per cent in 2013 according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and finally awarded the emerging market status. The Global Property Guide revealed, Dubai remains on top of the chart of the world’s best performing real estate markets.
The Dubai Expo 2020 will also launch the nation’s Golden Jubilee celebrations and offer the government and people a platform to realise a progressive and sustainable vision for the decades to come. Known as the 2021 vision, is aimed to make the UAE among the best countries in the world by the Golden Jubilee of the Union.
2. Etihad Rail – Hop on the train to Kuwait!
The Etihad Rail project, is a first of if its kind, a 1,200-kilometre railway project making a vital part of the GCC Railway network. A network that will connect the six countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) starting from Kuwait and ending in Oman. Scheduled to be fully complete in 2018 and with stage 2 already underway.
3. Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International
At the heart of DWC is the Al Maktoum International Airport. Built for the future, the airport once completed will have the capacity to handle 12 million tonnes of annual cargo capacity and 160 million passengers. The infrastructure required to accommodate four additional CAT III-certified runways capable of handling four superjumbo aircraft landings simultaneously, 24 hours a day, is already in place.
4. Dubai Metro Station Extensions:
The addition of mrt lines along with Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayad Road and Al khail road will now touch upon areas like the EXPO site, Academic city, Mirdiff City centre. This will connect areas making travel easier than ever before.
3. New Dubai Tram + Expansion of the tram :
The tram was inaugurated late 2014 with basic route in the beginning with the aim of fighting the traffic at the marina side of the town. The expansion of the tram will take passengers to Mall of the Emirates and connect all of marina and Sufouh road. The tram will also connect to the metro and the Palm Monorail. This improved infrastructure will only go to open up these popular tourist areas.
5. Theme Parks: Legoland, Six Flags, Marvel Studios, Bollywood Themepark!
Dubai has also laid foundation for theme parks and hotels. A few big names like Legoland, Bollywood theme park ( first of its kind), Six Flags, IMG worlds of adventure According to a few sources Jebel Ali will be the next theme park destination for the world . There is a huge area suggested for theme parks for people of all ages. These attractions to service the many millions of visitors forecast to visit Dubai over the next 5 years.
